David P. Torakeo

David P. Torakeo, (aka Torockio) died of natural causes on March 31, 2018 in Phoenixville Hospital.

Torakeo, 89, formerly of Laureldale, was the husband of Shirley (Wanner) Torakeo.

He was a Master Sergeant in the United States Army for twenty years before retiring in 1969. He served during the Korea and Vietnam wars. His work history also included the following: Grocery & Produce Department Civil Service at the Carlisle Barracks for 12 years; supply specialist at New Cumberland Army Deport for 1 year; and Lamp Sales and Service for 12 years in Reading, where he was known by the nick name “The Lamp Doctor”.

He was a member of the Wyomissing Church of the Brethren.

Born in Superior, PA, he was the son of the late Anthony and Georgina (Piccione) Torockio.

Torakeo is survived by his two sons, David P. Torakeo Jr., and James R. Torakeo and one daughter, Sharon M. (Torakeo) Dubs.

Other survivors include 5 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and his sister Mary (Torockio) Vogel.

He was preceded in death by his 5 brothers and 1 sister.

Services will be held Monday at 11 am at the Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap Cemetery.
