Dorothy Gertrude (Ache) Rothermel, 87, formerly of Muhlenberg Township, passed away July 15, 2017 in the Phoebe Berks Health Care Center.
She was the wife of the late Edward Nelson Rothermel who passed away February 26, 2006.
Born in Reading, PA on March 16, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Catherine (Nein) Ache Sr.
She graduated at the top of her class from Reading High School.
Dorothy was employed as a waitress in the Tea Room at Pomeroy’s and at the Arner’s Diner.
She was a world traveler and was a member of numerous senior citizens organizations. She also loved to knit and watch the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Dorothy is survived by her brother Earl W. Ache, Jr. of Temple and a sister Ruth Smith also of Temple.
Other survivors include her nieces and nephews: Kevin Ache, Ginger Smith and Deborah “Debbie” Bechtel.
Also surviving are relatives of her late husband Edward: Calvin and his wife Frances “Fran” Wagner, Faye Hart, Barry Kohl and Barbara wife of Pete Kauffman.
She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Ache.
Services will be held Wednesday at 12 p.m. in Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. -12 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
