Dorothy H. Weiland, beloved wife of the late Roy R. Weiland, died early in the morning of Thursday, August 11, 2016.

Born in Limekiln, PA on February 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Clair C. and Ruth A. Hetrick of Limekiln, PA.

She is survived by her daughter Jaclyn L.  Schertle and her husband Herman of Houston, TX; her son R. Robert Weiland II and his wife Cindy of York, PA; four grandchildren: Jillian Schertle of Houston, TX; Alyssa Lewis and husband Jeff of Thomasville, GA; Zachary R. Weiland and his wife Monica of Mt. Wolf, PA; and Kyle R. Weiland and his wife Amber of Dover, PA.  She is also survived by  her great grandchildren Hailey and Kalli Weiland of Dover, PA and Hunter and Gage Weiland of Mt. Wolf, PA, as well as siblings Roy Hetrick, Harold Hetrick, Erma (Leon) Burkhart, Isabelle (Floyd) Rhodes and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy always wanted to be a teacher and was one for 22 years in 5 states. She graduated from Oley High School in Oley, PA. She got her Bachelor of Science from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA and her Master of Education from Millersville University in Millersville, PA.

Dorothy and her late husband Roy moved around the country due to his job and they made many lifelong friends along the way.

Dorothy was always active in the churches they belonged to, teaching Sunday school, Bible school, and Confirmation classes. She and her husband Roy have been members of Salem Lutheran Church for 16 years.

After she retired, Dorothy became even more active as a community volunteer. She served as a volunteer, and later as President, of the Dover Area Food Bank for many years.  She was an active  member of Farm Women Group 16 and the Heritage Senior Center.

Dorothy and Roy traveled extensively, especially after they both retired. She enjoyed reading, flowers, bingo and social gatherings, as well as her trips to casinos and plays and playing with her grandchildren and then great grandchildren.

Dorothy especially enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends and relatives. She dearly loved her family and was dearly loved by them.

Dorothy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Country Meadows York-West and White Rose Hospice for the loving care they provided.
