Nancy Theresa Mealey

Nancy Theresa Mealey, 69, of Kutztown passed away February 3, 2023 at Penn State Health St. Joseph. 
She was the wife of the late Walter J. Mealey, who passed away in 1994.

Born July 14, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frederick C.J. and Matilda "Dolly" (Mack) Kern.

Nancy worked as a CNA for many years.

She enjoyed car rides (especially in the country), going to the shore, spending time admiring the garden, NCIS and her cat, Gerald. 

Most especially she loved spending time with her family and close friends.

She was proud to be in recovery for 12 years.

Surviving are her two daughters: Danita Mealey of Reading and Jennifer, wife of Robert Sweeny, of Reading. In addition are her grandchildren: Chad Mealey, Nikki, wife of Alexander Nunn, Richard Illich, Alyssa Lerch, Sadie Lerch, Dustin Lerch Jr, Emma Lerch, Vincent Bussell, Hunter Bussell and Sawyer Bussell. Great Grandchildren: Giovanni Rodriguez, Rylah Kate Rodriguez, Marceline Nunn and Andric Nunn.

Also surviving are her siblings: Frederick Kern (Geniveve) of Florida, Joan L. Loftus (Charles) of Philadelphia, Dennis Kern (Christy) of Virginia, Donna MacDonald (Daniel) of Lansdale, Karen Winter (Rudy) of Philadelphia, Michael Kern of Philadelphia, and Kathleen Leposki (Brian) of Delaware. Sister’s in law, Dee Kern and Barbara Kern Brennan also survive.

She was preceded in death by her daughter: Lori D'Onofrio and siblings: Patricia Vogal, Henry “Hank” Kern, Greg Kern, Larry Kern, Maureen Kern and Paul Kern. 

A viewing will be held Friday, February 10th from 6pm to 8pm at the Stitzel Funeral Home, 3300 Kutztown Rd, Laureldale, PA.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
