Arthur John Gamler, 93, formerly of Pikeville, died Monday, May 13, 2019 in The Villa at Douglassville, where he had been a resident since November, 2017.
Born in his Pike Township residence on January 2, 1926, he was a son of the late Levi Hiram Gamler and Minnie Adora (Hilbert) Gamler.
He was married June 7, 1947 to Gloria Faye (Moyer) Gamler, who died March 31, 2003.
Arthur was a member of St. Paul’s Lobach’s Lutheran Church, Oley Township.
He was employed as a pipe molder and machine operator with Eastern Foundry for over 40 years, retiring in 1990.
Arthur is survived by four children: Diane J. (Gamler), wife of David E. Schaeffer of Exeter Township; David J., husband of Ruth A. (Jacob) Gamler of Washington Township; Shirley A. (Gamler), wife of Richard G. Frey of Colebrookdale Township and Susan R. (Gamler), wife of Kevin M. Heimbach of Colebrookdale Township.
Other survivors include 10 grandchildren: Theresa L. “Teri” (Gamler), wife of Rusty Miller of Pottstown; Stacy A. (Frey), wife of Brian Stauffer of Colebrookdale Township; Scott D., husband of Lucinda S. (Howell) Schaeffer of Sinking Spring; Melissa E. (Frey), wife of William Cherkasky of Douglassville; Julie B. (Gamler), wife of Stanley T. Veneski of Spring Township; Gregory N. Schaeffer of St. Peter’s Village, Chester County; Steven D. Gamler of Emmaus, Lehigh County; Keith M. Wolfrey of Erie, PA; Ayden J. Heimbach of Colebrookdale Township and Kaylee M. Heimbach of Colebrookdale Township.
He was the proud grandfather of 10 great grandchildren.
Arthur is also survived by two siblings: Robert M., husband of Anna “Pat” (Rothrock) Gamler of Alburtis and Anna M. (Gamler), wife of Elmer Bechtel of Pike Township.
He was predeceased by six siblings: Bertha May Weller, Charles Franklin Gamler, Clarence Monroe Gamler, Carl Merlin Gamler, Earl Warren Gamler and Allen Leroy Gamler.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Brookdale Hospice for the care their father received, and to The Keystone Villa staff for making his past 18 months a good experience.
Services will be held Friday, May 17th at 11:00 am in Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 423 Main Street, Oley.
A viewing will be held Friday, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Lobach’s Cemetery, Lobachsville.
