Mildred May (Brown) Seyfert, 98, formerly of North 9th Street, Reading, died December 27, 2018 in Phoebe Berks Health Center, where she had been a guest for the last three years.
She was married June 22, 1942 to Zenas L. Seyfert, who died December 24, 2007.
Born in Muhlenberg Township, on June 22, 1920, she was a daughter of the late John Albert Brown and Emma A. (Ulrich) Brown.
Mildred was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 10th & Windsor St., Reading.
She enjoyed knitting, counted cross stitch and watching her grandchildren.
Mildred loved cooking for the holidays and was an active baker, she was especially good at peanut butter eggs, apple sauce cake and cherry pies.
She was employed a number of years for Harry Hahn’s Seafood House, Reading; Rapp Brothers Meat Market, 10th & Robeson Street; Shells, Muhlenberg Township and Luther Reeser’s Catering, Rajah, Reading, before retiring.
Mildred is survived by three children: David B., husband of Debbie L. (Carmelo) Seyfert of Bern Township; John R., husband of Cheryl A. (Weiss) Seyfert of Exeter Township and Mary A. (Seyfert), wife of Nicholas Horning of Ormond Beach, Florida.
Other survivors include three grandchildren: Caitlin A. Seyfert, fiancée of Greg Liccardi of Manhattan, New York; Cody J. Seyfert of Exeter Township and Joseph Bowers of Ormond Beach, Florida.
There are also two sisters: Marion A. (Brown) Stephenson, widow of Lester of Reading and Naomi E. (Brown) Reber, widow of Bruce of Muhlenberg Township.
Mildred was predeceased by seven siblings: Susan S. (Brown) Sweitzer, John W. Brown, Howard A. Brown, Paul M. Brown, Hermon L. Brown, Leon E. Brown and Ralph K. Brown.
Services will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 am in Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 am in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
