Orlea Elizabeth “Lee” Hartman, 88, of Richmond Township, PA, passed away October 18, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born June 25, 1930 in Virginville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Elwood Lewis and Angelina Elizabeth (Dreibelbis) Wanamaker.
She was the wife of Robert N. “Bob” Hartman who died December 4, 2014.
Orlea was a 1948 graduate of Kutztown High School, and a 1952 graduate of Kutztown State Teacher’s College.
She was employed as an elementary school teacher for 33 years, having taught in Alaska; Richmond Township, PA; Fairfax County, VA; and Ft. Belvoir, VA, where she retired from in 1985.
Orlea loved spending time with her family, gardening and flowers, and never missed a Saturday listening to Jack’s Backyard on WEEU. She was also a pen-pal, and enjoyed writing to others who were also born in 1930. She also enjoyed keeping up with her high school classmates.
Surviving are her three children: Lois R. “Lori” Hall of Rockland Township; David L., husband of Tracey M. Hartman of Woodbridge, VA and Doreen H., widow of Alan L. Roper of Shippensburg.
Also surviving is her sister, Louise Schmehl of New York, and her brother, Larry Wanamaker of Bally.
There are also nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Oley is in charge of arrangements.
