Ramon Torres Barreto, 86, of Temple, died June 28, 2018 at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading.
He was the widower of Janice Elaine (Sweitzer) Barreto, who died July 10, 2015.
Born September 28, 1931 in Orocorvis, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Juan Torres and Quintina Torres Barreto.
Ramon was employed with the City of Reading as a foundry worker for 20 years, retiring in 1998. His other places of employment, over the years, included: Kutztown Foundry, Birdsboro Steel and Empire Steel.
Surviving are his four children: Christina J. (Barreto) Rivera of Temple, Ramon J. Barreto of Sinking Spring, Ida E. (Barreto) Manmiller of Lyons, and Mildred M. (Barreto) Hayes of Lenhartsville.
There are also four stepchildren surviving: Michelle L. (Dengler) Santiago of Reading; Troy R. Dengler of Allentown; Denise E. Dengler of Muhlenberg Township and Kevin R. Dengler of Virginia Beach, VA.
Other survivors include his four siblings: Angel Torres of Kutztown, Maximo Torres of Fleetwood, Lucas Torres of Mertztown and Mary (Torres) Torres of Muhlenberg Township.
There are also 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Ramon was predeceased by his daughter, Jacqualine (Barreto) Colon, and by his brothers, Natividad Torres, Francisco Torres, and Juan Torres, Jr.
A Prayer Service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held from 9-10:30, in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
