Raymond Reber Obituary

Raymond Laverne Reber, 88, of Maidencreek Township, died July 4, 2018 at Kutztown Manor.

 

He was the loving husband of Joan Larue (Grimm) Reber, to whom he was married to for 44 years.

 

Born September 25, 1929 in Reading, he was a son of the late John James and Frances Jeanette (Ludwig) Reber.

 

Raymond served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. 

 

He was employed with Clover Farms Dairy for 19 years, and subsequently, was employed with Met-Ed for 23 years, retiring in 1986.

 

Raymond was a member of Bern Evangelical Lutheran Church, Leesport, where he was a member of Bern Seniors. 

 

He was also a member of the Twin-O Hunting Camp in Galeton, Potter County for many years, where he enjoyed spending time.

 

Raymond enjoyed gardening, working outside and he loved cars.  He was also an avid bowler, having bowled in the Met-Ed League for many years.

 

More than anything, he loved spending time with his family.

 

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his five children: Wendy L., wife of Mark Wisniewski of West Lawn; Joanne E., wife of James Conard of Wernersville; Randall S., husband of Doreen Mutter of Laureldale; Michael W., husband of Bonnie Mutter of Reading; and Jeffrey L. Mutter of Shillington.

 

Other survivors include his brother, Glenn A. Reber of Temple.

 

There are also 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren surviving.

 

Raymond was preceded in death by his two brothers, John J. Reber, Jr. and Larry G. Reber.

 

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale.  A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
