Richard John Milshaw, 82, of Lower Alsace Township and Pompano Beach, Florida, died July 12, 2018 peacefully at his home in Pompano Beach, Florida. He was the husband of the late Janet M. Milshaw, whom he married February 14, 1971. Born June 28, 1936 in Birdsboro, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Paul and Julia (Minchack) Milshaw, Sr. Richard was a graduate of Reading High School, class of 1954, and served in the United States Navy following high school until 1958. He worked for Firestone until retiring in 1998. Richard also earned his real estate license from Penn State Berks Campus and served as a real estate broker with Bione Agency, Reading, PA.
Richard was a member of St. John’s Gernant’s United Church of Christ, Leesport, PA, and Church on the Hill United Church of Christ, Boca Raton, Florida.
He was a loving husband, good brother, and excellent grand- and great-grand-father. Richard was a very kind person, always happy to see people. He loved spending time with children and was fun-loving at heart.
Richard was the brother of the late Margaret (Milshaw), wife of James Stoudt, and step-father to the late Bonnie M. (Hassler), wife of Leonard P. Whitehead, Jr., of Jacksonville, Florida. He is survived by his brother Joseph P. and his wife Diane E. Milshaw, Jr. Other survivors include two nieces Stephanie D. (Milshaw), wife of Byron L. Rice, of Orwigsburg ,PA, and Suzanne G. Milshaw of Philadelphia, nephew Scott Milshaw, two greatnephews Mitchell and Aaron Rice, step-greatnephew Zachary Rice, and two step-grandchildren Todd M., husband of Charlotte M. (Sophy) Whitehead of Jacksonville, Florida, and Lynne A. (Whitehead), wife of Frederick T. Ensor, Jr., of Columbia, MD, and two step-great-granddaughers Ashley T. and Delaney A. Ensor.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 25th at 11:00 am in Pleasant View Cemetery, 650 Fritztown Road, Sinking Spring, PA.
