Ruth Blanche (Wagner) Shane

Ruth Blanche (Wagner) Shane, 88, formerly of Bertolet Mill Road, Oley, died December 5, 2018 in Sacred Heart Villa, Muhlenberg Township where she had been a resident for the last year.
She was the wife of Ernest S. Shane, also a resident of Sacred Heart Villa, whom she married September 24, 1949.
Born in Pottstown, Montgomery County on July 10, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Henry W. and Sadie R. (Hunsberger) Wagner.
Ruth was a graduate of 1948 Oley Valley High School.
She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Oley, where she was an active member of the Women’s Guild.
Ruth enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, listening to the radio and being a homemaker.
She loved being a part of her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives.
Ruth is also survived by three children: Gary L., husband of Etta Shane of Exeter Township; Lorie R. (Shane), wife of Michael Schneider of Havertown and Steven A., husband of Robin (Hummel) Shane of Maidencreek Township.
She was affectionately known as “Mam” to eight grandchildren: Justin, Adam, Ady, Geoffrey, Ted, Shanna, Cory, and Sarah.
Ruth is also survived by five great grandchildren: Greta, Myrna, Rowan, Hanlee and Brynn.
She was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her sixth great grandchild.
There are also three siblings: Henry J. Wagner, Roger L. Wagner and Charles W. Wagner.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Ruth’s caretakers: Paulette, Phyllis, Debra and Beverly; Caring Hospice and the entire staff at Sacred Heart Villa.
A memorial service will be held Monday, December 10th at 11:00 am in Salem United Church of Christ, 307 Covered Bridge Road, Oley, PA 19547.
A visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 am until time of services in the Church.
Burial will be in Oley Cemetery, Spangsville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church at the above address or to Sacred Heart Villa, 51 Seminary Avenue, Reading, PA 19605.
