Warren Leonard Kulp, 76, died January 21, 2019 in his Laureldale residence.
He was the loving husband of Carol Ann (Althouse) Kulp, who he married on April 20, 1963.
Born January 5, 1943 in Reading, he was a son of the late Clarence Hubert Kulp, Jr. and Ruth Carolyn (Schaeffer) Kulp.
Warren attended Reading High School.
He was employed as a welder with Reading Railroad for 13 years; then, with Dietrich Dairy, Muhlenberg Township, in the receiving department for 13 years; and subsequently, as a custodian, with Muhlenberg School District, for 13 years, where he retired from in 2005.
After retirement Warren worked as the sexton at Calvary Lutheran Church for 10 years, and lastly, at Chick-fil-A, where he was affectionately known as “Mr. Warren,” from 2005 until 2018, last working in October.
Warren was a member of “Counter Trash Breakfast Group,” who met at Chatty’s, Alsace Township, regularly.
Family was everything to Warren; he enjoyed every moment spent with them. He also enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing, and was a Pittsburgh Steelers and Reading Phillies fan.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his two children: Cathy Ann (Kulp) Mitchell of Laureldale and Thomas W. Kulp of Albuquerque, NM.
There are also four grandchildren: Charles W. Rothermel, companion of Carissa M. Ritchie of Ephrata; Andrew J. T. Kulp, companion of Samantha E. Miller of Ephrata; Emily A.F. Kulp of Albuquerque, NM and Joshua A. Rothermel of Laureldale and four great grandchildren: Jade, Autumn, Vincent and Marshall.
Other survivors include two brothers: David P., husband of Carolyn (Mundy) Kulp of Harrisburg and Brian S., husband of Donna (Leininger) Kulp of Bern Township; his sister-in-law, Louise (Reigel) Kulp of Elizabethtown, NC; and his brother-in-law, David C., husband of Rosemarie (Troller) Althouse of Reading.
Warren was preceded in death by his brother, Barry L. Kulp.
Services will be held Saturday, January 26th at 10 a.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Viewings will be held Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9-10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairview (Belleman’s) Cemetery of Centre Township.
