Ann W. “Gumsy” Frebel, 92, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2023 in her Spring Township residence.
She was the widow of Roger W. Frebel, (1929 – 2016).
Born in Reading, PA on April 14, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Mabel B. (Mosser) Weidman.
Ann was a 1948 graduate of Sinking Spring High School and a 1952 graduate of Kutztown State College with a degree in Elementary Education. She also earned a Reading Specialist Degree from Millersville University.
She taught for 25 years in the Wilson School District.
Ann was a lifelong member of St. John’s Reformed Church, Sinking Spring.
She is survived by her five children: Pam L. Frebel of May’s Landing, NJ; Lynne A. (Matthew) Dutzman of Downingtown; Thomas W. (Mary) Frebel of Spring Township; Rick J. (Rochelle) Frebel of Wyomissing; and Robin J. (Christopher) Pruitt of Spring Township.
Ann is also survived by her pride and joy; her eight fabulous grandchildren, known as “Gumsy’s Gang”: Ally (Sam) Marrella, Wesley Frebel, Dana (Mike) Ianniello, Jack Frebel, Laura Dutzman, Nicole Dutzman, Kelly Pruitt and Lindsay Pruitt.
She was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn J. Davis and her two brothers: Richard L. Weidman, and Stanley C. Weidman.
Services were held privately.
Burial was at the Weidman Cemetery, Sinking Spring.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ann’s memory to the Christian Education Department at St. John’s Reformed Church, 4001 Penn Avenue, Sinking Spring, PA 19608.
