Anthony Gilbert Camilli

Anthony G. Camilli, 68 years old, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by the
love of his family, on December 9, 2023. Son of the late Anthony K. and Elizabeth J.
(Gilbert) Camilli, he is survived by his beloved wife Cherie. In addition to his wife, he is
survived by sister Kathleen Etchberger, widow of Thomas Etchberger, and Margaret
Pellegrini, wife of Dennis Pellegrini, his niece Jaime Schrenk, wife of Michael Schrenk, and
his great-nephews, Matthew and Luke Schrenk.
Tony’s personality was larger than life and to know him was to love him. His charisma and
sense of humor lit up any room he walked into. Always quick with a joke and a smile to
share, Tony made everyone feel light and happy in his company.
His deep love for his family and tradition were trademarks of his life. He would begin the
“countdown to Christmas” on January 1st and as soon as September rolled around, he
would be excitedly talking about the upcoming holiday fun with his family. The Temple
Halloween parade, Thanksgiving day, and Christmas Eve were his favorite days of the year.
His fondest memories included Christmas Eve at his parent’s home on Kutztown Road,
surrounded by family and friends and the magic of Christmas. In addition to family time and
holiday celebrations, Butch also enjoyed days on his boat at Raystown Lake, time in the
“shack” with his lifelong best friends, life in his cozy home with Cherie, Dasha, Dewy, and
Greta, and moments with his nephews Matthew and Luke, teaching them all about the
important values in life
Tony began his career in the mushroom business with his father, then moved on to become
the assistant maintenance director at Genesis Healthcare, where he met his wife Cherie.
He was so talented in his field that he went on to serve as the property manager for the
Mid-Atlantic region of Genesis Healthcare and then for Brandywine Healthcare. The
highlight of his career was building, owning, and operating both Hearthstone at
Maidencreek and Hearthstone at Amity, along with his childhood friend Walter Greth, until
he retired in 2017. He was admired and loved by his staff and created a family-like
environment for all.
He had a wealth of knowledge and was always one to be relied on for help with almost
anything. Business-wise, mechanical-wise, life-wise, he could be counted on to offer great
advice and support those who relied on him.
Tony was truly loved and adored by so many people. He will be sorely missed by all who
have known him but he leaves a legacy of love, tradition, hard work, and laughter that will
be carried on by his family.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Michael Abboud, the nursing staff
of Saint Joseph’s hospital, and Promedica Hospice for providing Tony with exceptional
loving and compassionate care.
Viewings will be held in Stitzel Funeral Home, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605 on
Wednesday December 13, 2023 from 6pm-8pm and on Thursday December 14, 2023 from
9:30-10:30am.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday,December 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at
Holy Guardian Angels Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Guardian Angels Church,
3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605 or to the Saint Francis Home, 144 Hilltop Drive,
Shillington, PA, 19607.
