Arlene Kauffman (Rentschler) Degler

Arlene Kauffman (Rentschler) Degler, 89, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away, Tuesday, June 7, 2022, in Reading Hospital - Tower Health.

She was the beloved wife of Calvin Matthew Degler, who died October 4th, 2002. They were married March 31, 1962.

Born in Centerport, she was the daughter of the late Daniel N. and Mary Althouse (Kauffman) Rentschler.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Reading.

Arlene was a homemaker and ran a roadside stand with her late husband Calvin, selling fruits and vegetables. 

She is survived by five children: Dennis C., husband of Linda L. Becker, Sinking Spring; Diane K., wife of David A. Kilakis, West Lawn; Craig A., husband of Laurie L. Becker, West Lawn; Jolene M. Degler, companion of Raymond L. Noll, Jr., Muhlenberg; and Eric D., husband of Karen L. Degler, Fleetwood. Nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren also survive her. 

Arlene was predeceased by three siblings: Stanley Rentschler; Pauline (Rentschler) Wagner; and Arthur Rentschler. 

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 10th, 2022, at 11 A.M., at  Stitzel Family Funeral Home, 3300 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Township. A viewing will be held Friday morning from 9:30 A.M. to 11 A.M., at the funeral home at the above address. The family requests casual dress for the services. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Arlene's honor to Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508.
