Barbara Schmidt Schlosser, 84, of Shillington, passed away Friday, August 15, 2025, at Tower Health Reading Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was the loving wife of Donald K. Schlosser, whom she married October 12, 1963.
Born on December 6, 1940, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Karl Schmidt and Elizabeth (Becker).
Barbara was a 1958 graduate of North Penn High School in Lansdale, PA and later went on to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Kutztown State College in 1962.
She was very active in the community. Barbara was a member of Lincoln Park Community United Methodist Church having participated in the choir for about 50 years, United Methodist Women, counting offerings, baking cookies, and serving on various boards. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and her children’s activities. In her spare time, she enjoyed music, theater, tennis, bridge, crossword puzzles, and spending time with family and friends. Barbara and her husband loved to travel and have been to a large portion of the United States and several countries, frequently with family and friends.
Barbara is survived by two children: Steven D. Schlosser of Saranac Lake, NY and Deborah A. (Schlosser) Schneider (wife of Walter) of State College, PA.
Surviving are also two grandchildren, Laura E. Hoag Schneider, and Carrie A. Hoag.
One sibling is surviving, James E. Schmidt, and she was predeceased by one sibling, John K. Schmidt.
A service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Lincoln Park Community United Methodist Church. A visitation will take place an hour prior at the same location from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be at a later date.
Please wear something colorful to the service at the request of the family to honor Barbara and the life she lived.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lincoln Park Community United Methodist Church 1 Carlisle Avenue, Reading, PA 19609 designated for the Endowment Fund.
