Barry Rohrbach Obituary

Barry Eugene Rohrbach, 88, formerly of Cumru Township, died July 12, 2022, in his Jackson Township, Lebanon County residence. 

He was the husband of Virginia Lee (Snyder) Rohrbach, whom he married May 24, 1996. 

Born in Birdsboro, PA., on August 30, 1933, he was a son of the late John Rohrbach and Charlotte M. (Clark) Wade. 

Barry was a 1951 graduate of Muhlenberg High School. 

He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. 

Barry has been a Berks County businessman for many years. He began his career as a police officer in Pottstown. Later, entering the banking industry at First Federal Savings and Loan Association, rising to the title of vice president. He was also associated with Atlantic Financial as vice president and marketing manager. 

After leaving First Federal, Barry became the president of Penn Savings Bank in Wyomissing and remained there through significant growth and name changes until it eventually became Sovereign Bank.  

He then entered the real estate market, where he was a realtor, partner, and vice president of Century 21 Advance Realty as well as president of ABC Mortgage Company. 

In 1988 Barry founded Crime Alert Berks County, a crime tip hotline. He developed a board of directors and managed the organization as executive director. He served as its president from 1988 – 2016. Crime Alert Berks County has remained the number one crime tip hotline in Pennsylvania for over 20 years, being responsible for over 720 arrests and paying out almost $550,000.00 in reward money. 

Barry was also a past director of public relations with Security Guards, Inc., Wyomissing, before retiring in 2016. 

He was a 50 plus year member of St. John’s Lodge #435, F&AM of Pennsylvania, West Reading. 

Additionally, some of his past community involvement include; president of the Cumru Township Board of Commissioners for several terms; secretary to the Redevelopment Authority of Berks County; founder Berks County Business Club; president and board member of the Reading Kiwanis Club; board chairman and member of the YMCA of Reading and Berks County; director of Boy Scouts of America Hawk Mountain Council; treasurer of United Way of Berks County; first vice president and treasurer of Berks County Senior Citizens Council; senior member of Steering Committee of Berks Literacy Council; general chairman of the statewide campaign for Senator Mike O’Pake for Attorney General; board member, Neighborhood Housing Services; General Chairman, Berks County Tennis Tournament; chairman of Reading Phillies Baseball Team; general chairman “Invest in a Cop” program board; treasurer of American Red Cross, Pottstown; Daniel Boone School Board; chairman of Byndenwood Music Festival, YMCA; and a board member of the Olivet Boys and Girls Club. 

Barry is also survived by three children: Jeffrey, husband of Janelle (Screpsi) Rohrbach of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Tracy (Rohrbach) Dise of Amity Township, and Rick, husband of Cindi Rohrbach of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. 

He was the proud grandfather of five granddaughters: Brittany Rohrbach, Chelsea Rohrbach, Julie Anne Rohrbach, Aimee Rohrbach, and Abigail Dise; and two great grandchildren: Stella and Vincent Fusco. 

Barry will also be missed by his dog, Tucker Lee. 

Services were held privately. 

Burial with Military Honors were held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
