Betty Grace Stephan, 87, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Sinking Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was the widow of Richard F. Stephan, who passed away in 2004. Later in life, she was the fiancée of Robert "Bob" Stull, with whom she shared 17 wonderful years before his passing in 2024.
Born on June 26, 1938, in Reading, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Kunkelman Sr. and Grace (Schwab) Kunkelman.
Betty was a graduate of Fleetwood High School and later attended the Coatesville School of Nursing.
During her working years, she was employed by Berks County in the Register of Wills Department at the Berks County Courthouse. She later worked as a caseworker for the Berks County Welfare Department until her retirement, a career she often spoke of with pride.
Betty was happiest when surrounded by her family. Over the years, her home was the center of many celebrations, big and small. She loved entertaining, hosting gatherings, and especially going out to eat. She was a woman of many interests, ranging from motorcycle rides to baking. Above all, she found true joy in spending time with her family and grandchildren, no matter the occasion. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for those she loved.
She is survived by her son, Douglas F. Schwenk, widower of Catherine E. (Greenway) Schwenk, who passed away in 2019.
She is also survived by two grandchildren: Sarah J. Schwenk, fiancée of William N. Whitlock II, of Denver; and Samuel R. Schwenk, husband of Valerie M. (Weber) Schwenk, of Wernersville.
In addition to her husband and fiancée, she was predeceased by her daughter, Sherie L. (Schwenk) Wenzel.
