Brian Newman

Brian Newman, 82, died June 2, 2026 in his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Patricia A. (Wanitzky) Newman, with whom he shared almost 64 years of marriage.

Born December 12, 1943, Brian was born in Baltimore, MD.

Brian was a 1961 graduate of Brandywine High School.  He furthered his education at Penn State University, State College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1965, and his master’s degree in 1967.

He was employed as a teacher in industrial arts for 40 years.  He spent two years teaching at Saucon Valley School District, and the last 38 years at Brandywine Heights School District, retiring in 2005.

Brian enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing, and loved vacationing in Wildwood, NJ.  He was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Philadelphia Eagles, Penn State football, and Villanova. 

You could often find Brian tinkering with things – cars, lawnmowers, muzzleloaders, and fly-tying.

In his down time, he loved listening to old time music on his record player.

He loved Christmas, and his philosophy was the fatter the Christmas tree, the better.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his four children: Eric, husband of Eleanor (Worchick) Newman of Fleetwood; Kirk, husband of Sherri (Zollers) Newman of Denver, Lancaster County; Krista, wife of Kenneth Pauley of Fleetwood; and Brett, husband of Pam (Vogel)  Newman of New Tripoli.

Other survivors include his 13 grandchildren: Joshua, Jeremy (Jessica), Nicole (Derek), Elizabeth (Kevin), Leah (Tom), Ethan (Amanda), Jennifer, Alise, Elliott (Elise), Evan (Liberty), Andrew, Kirsten, and Carson; and his nine great grandchildren: Cierra, Jonathan, Janiya, Jayden, Jeremiah, Ainsley, Elliana, Olive, and Alexandria. 

Services will be held Monday, June 8, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 423 Main Street, Oley.  A viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m.  Burial will follow at Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
