Catherine E. (Weber) Huegler, 82, of Muhlenberg Township passed away on Dec 24, 2024, at her home, with her beloved family at her side. Born on December 30, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Catherine (Cavanaugh) Weber and Leo Weber. Catherine fought with a strong spirit against ovarian cancer.
Cathy grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic Girls High School. She enjoyed going to American Bandstand and rooting for Philly sports teams, especially the 76ers. After graduating, she worked as a secretary at Acme Markets, where she met her husband George, a produce buyer. Together, Catherine and George moved to Johnstown, Pennsylvania and had 3 children: Peter, Joseph, and Catherine (Cat). They lived briefly in Longmeadow Massachusetts, and settled outside of Reading PA to continue raising their loving family. Catherine and George were married for 37 years until his passing in 2003.
Catherine’s family and friends were always the center of her life. She was part of a tight-knit neighborhood club in Whitford Hills, and spent many days in her later years bowling and playing cards with friends. She enjoyed learning about her family genealogy and visiting with her children and grandchildren.
Catherine is survived by her three children: Peter Huegler, husband of Georgjean (Michaliszyn) Huegler, and grandchildren Rebecca, Sarah, and Peter of Clearfield, PA; Joe Huegler, husband of Tracey (Stivala) Huegler, and grandchildren Emily, Ethan, and Alex of Yardley, PA; and Catherine Huegler, wife of Phillip Johnson, and step-grandchildren Natalie and Sophia of Las Vegas, NV. She was predeceased by her brother, John “Jack” Weber who passed away in 2009.
Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, to support the fight against cancers affecting women.
