Charles W. Haas, 76, of Schaefferstown, Pa. passed away Friday May 5, 2023 at the Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center.
He was the owner of CW Haas Garage in Pleasantville, Pa. for 20 years.
Born in Reading, Pa. he was the son of the late Eli C. and Mary E. (Hafer) Haas, and brother John D. Haas.
Charles worked as a custom steel fabricator, auto/truck mechanic, and race/hot rod engine builder. He was also a NASCAR tech inspector for local dirt tracks including Penn National, Big Diamond, and Grandview Speedways.
At the Oley Fire Co. he served as a firefighter, chief engineer, and progressed to Fire Chief.
Charles enjoyed traveling across the U.S., watching trains, riding the rails, and spending time with friends and family. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, they always put a smile on his face.
Charles is survived by his devoted long time partner Brenda Brintzenhoff and his children, James Haas husband of Heather, Linda Shirey wife of David and their mother Marie Haas. Grandchildren include Alyssa wife of Brandon Luft, Taylor and Leah. Great grandchildren Logan and Aubrey.
There will be a calling hour held Thursday May 25, 2023 from 6 P.M. - 8 P.M. and Friday May 26, 2023 from 9 A.M. - 11 A.M. with a Memorial Service following at Friedens United Church of Christ, 337 Main Street Oley, Pa. 19547. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Oley Fire Company, P.O. Box 78, Oley, PA 19547 or Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center, 500 University Drive Hershey, Pa 17033.
Charles and Brenda would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at Hershey Medical Center on the Family Community Medicine floor in the Childrens Hospital that cared for him. They were always kind and compassionate to his needs and we loved them.
