Charles Oliver Wanner, 87, of Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County and formerly of Kutztown, died May 3, 2024 in the Lutheran Home at Topton.
He was married June 23, 1956 to the late Catherine Lillian (Ohlinger) Wanner, (1936 – 2017).
Born in Oley Township, PA., on August 16, 1936, he was a son of the late Elwood H., and Gertrude L. (Lutz) Wanner.
Charles was a 1954 graduate of Oley Valley High School.
He was employed 42 years as a forklift operator with Bachman Company, Reading until February 1999.
Charles was later employed 16 years as a grocery clerk with Weis Markets before retiring in June 2015.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Fleetwood.
Charles loved playing cards, golfing, bowling, or just going out for a drive.
Spending time with his family was the most important thing in his life.
He is survived by three children: Marjorie M. Wanner, companion of Vincent Yulko of Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County; Craig A. Wanner, widower of Deborah of Texas; and Dallas C. Wanner of Kutztown.
Charles is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was the third of four siblings: Emma M. Gibson (Deceased); Miriam J., widow of Earl Osenbach of Kutztown; and Mabel M. Moyer (Deceased).
A viewing will be held Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, inc., 423 Main Street, Oley, with services beginning at 2:00 PM
Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
