David Andrew Kunstek, 70, passed away peacefully, on July 5, 2026, in his Muhlenberg Township residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 3, 1956, in Pottstown, he was a son of Arlene M. (Augustine) Kunstek of Maidencreek Township and the late Joseph J. Kunstek.
He was a 1974 graduate of Central Catholic High School.
David was employed for 38 years by Carpenter Technology Corporation in the vacuum arc remelting department, retiring in 2015 as a computerized furnace operator.
He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, Hyde Park.
David always enjoyed life’s simple pleasures; he was a lifelong fisherman and always looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Charleston Lake in Ontario.
A Philadelphia sports fan, he especially liked watching the Phillies.
He was an avid horse racing fan and enjoyed many evenings handicapping and wagering on the thoroughbreds.
David always had a great interest in meteorology and one of his pastimes was observing weather data and forecasting local weather.
His joy in life was spending as much time as possible outdoors tending to his property.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, is his fiancée, Tara A. Stiefel; his son, Joseph D. Kunstek; his sister, Sharon K., wife of Dennis D. Damiani; and his brother, Thomas J., husband of Sharon L. (Killian) Kunstek, all of Muhlenberg Township. There are also two nieces, Stephanie A. (Rohrbach) Shuemaker and Evelyn A. Kunstek; and a great niece, Sophia Claire Shuemaker.
He will also be sadly missed by his fiancée's son, Richy, who thought of him as a father.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 10th at 11 a.m. at Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. A viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
