David Joseph Seyfert Sr., 88, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away, Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Tower Health Reading Hospital.
He was the widower of Janice Seyfert who passed away in 2018.
Born December 11, 1936, in Hamburg, PA, he was the son of the late Elmer and Lizzie Seyfert.
During David’s working years he was a glasses polisher for the eye care industry. He was also employed by the Reading Eagle as a motor route carrier where he worked for 38 years, retiring in 2023.
In his free time he loved to spend time outdoors hunting, fishing, and trapping. When David was inside he would be watching NASCAR or his beloved Boston Red Sox. What brought him the most joy was spending time with his family during the holidays where they would enjoy their meals together.
David is survived by five children: Nicki Bernhard, of Stevens, PA; Beverly (Seyfert), wife of Jeffrey Kline of Mohnton; Ricky Seyfert of Muhlenberg Township; Christine (Seyfert), wife of William Swartz of Lykens, PA; and Todd Seyfert, husband of Alison (Carl) of Mohnton, PA.
Also surviving are six grandchildren: Casey Bernhard; Mickey Bernhard; Ashley Akins; Nicholas Macciocca; Jolynn Roskuscus; and Nathan Talarigo.
David leaves behind eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased in death by one son, David Seyfert Jr. (1989). David was also predeceased by five siblings: Anna Wagner; Jane Quick; Mary Blackwell; Mabel Epting; and Paul Seyfert.
A funeral service will be held Friday, October 17, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Laureldale, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605. A viewing will take place an hour prior at the same location from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.. Burial will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery in Hamburg.
