Donald H. Adams, Jr., 77, died September 30, 2024 in his Douglass Township residence.
He was married December 23, 1967 to Joan Elaine (Delong) Adams.
Born in Pottsville, Schuylkill County on July 8, 1947, he was a son of the late Donald H. Sr., and Louise Rose (Engleman) Adams.
He was a 1965 graduate of Blue Mountain High School and attended Golden Beacom Junior College, Delaware.
Donald was in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam Conflict and also served with the Colorado Honor Guard.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Amityville.
Donald was employed with Adams & Tropp Construction, H&K Group, and Shirley Contracting, a subsidiary of Clark Construction, Rodcon before retiring as a superintendent in 2015..
Of his bridge and road projects, he was most proud of the Springfield “Mixing Bowl” Interchange at the Washington, D.C. beltway.
After retiring he worked part-time with Vision Custom Tooling, Birdsboro.
Donald was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Schuylkill Lodge #138; Scottish Rite Valley of Reading, and the National Rifle Association.
He is also survived by three sons: Donald H. III, husband of Amy R. (Weaver) Adams of District Township; Andrew S., husband of Stacey L. (Rubright) Adams of Earl Township; and Kurt E. Adams of Douglass Township.
Donald was the proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Nathaniel J. Adams, fiancé of Maggie Hartley; Brody C. Adams, companion of Lexi Weidner; Brenden M. Adams, fiancé of Makenzie Howard; Alyssa M. Adams, fiancée of Michael Haldeman; and Joshua S. Adams.
Other survivors include a sister, Robin, wife of John Noecker of Auburn, Schuylkill County; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Dorothy, wife of Barry Rapp; Barbara, wife of Bryan Hanna; brothers-in-law: Bruce, husband of Kathleen (Pavey) DeLong; Patricia “Penny” Adams; and David Farr.
Donald was predeceased by two siblings: Eugene S. “Quincy” Adams, and Sandra L. (Adams) Farr, and a nephew, Logan Farr.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated Friday, October 11th at 12:00 noon in St. Paul’s United Church Of Christ, 1979 Weavertown Road, (Amityville) Douglassville, PA 19518, with fellowship to follow. Family will receive friends and family Friday from 11:00 am - 12:00 noon in the Church.
Burial with Military Honors will be held privately in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Amityville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church at the above address.
