Dorothy E. Eddinger, 96, of Ruscombmanor Township, passed away on Thursday, September 8 at 3:20 AM while a patient in the Reading Hospital.
Born in Ruscombmanor Township, she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Minnie (DeTurk) Freyberger.
She is predeceased by her husband, Stanley M. (d. 1961), a daughter, Louise (d. 1952), infant son, Ray (d. 1956) and brother Ralph Freyberger.
She is survived by her four children, Patricia Gorman (John) of Yakima, Washington, Marie Graham (Bill) of Chesterbrook, Pa., Gene (Donna), and Ron (Karen) both of Ruscombmanor Township; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
A graduate of Oley Valley High School, Dorothy met her future husband while picking strawberries. Widowed at the age of 35, she set about raising her four young children the best she could. Through her life she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, the ‘office nurse’ for Dr. Tallman, volunteered with the Oley Ambulance, provided in-home care through Care for People, and lastly worked in the produce department at King’s IGA/Weis Market, retiring at age 90.
Dorothy arranged for her body to be donated for medical training through Humanity Gifts Registry, Philadelphia.
