Frederick F. Adam, Jr. Obituary

Frederick F. Adam Jr., 83 passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in Naples, FL on April 15, 2026.

Frederick was a resident of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania and Naples, Florida. He was a longtime member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in West Lawn, PA.

He was the husband of Gloria (Duplak) Adam, they were married on May 29, 1965 and celebrated 60 years of marriage. Born in Reading on December 9, 1942, Frederick was the son of the late Frederick F. and Kathryn M. (Adams) Adam Sr.

He was a 1960 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, graduated from the apprenticeship program of IBEW 743 and then Reading Area Community College where he received his associate’s degree.

Frederick proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years. Following his military service, he built a successful career as an Engineer, working for several engineering firms throughout his career, retiring from Worley Parsons in 2009.

In his younger years, he was a talented baseball player. He was an avid Penn State football and wrestling fan and also enjoyed watching the Eagles and Phillies. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends and also spending many fun times with family and friends through the years in Fenwick Island, DE. When living in Naples, he enjoyed bowling, playing cards and lunches with the guys. His family was the center of his life, and his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with them, especially attending his grandchildren's sporting events and activities. He also took great pride in his Corvette. He was also a founding member of the Western Berks Jaycees.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: a son Michael, husband of Tammy Chapman), Sinking Spring and a daughter Lisa, wife of Michael Wilkes, Sinking Spring; five grandchildren, Jessika (Adam) wife of Ryan Schumacher and Eric Adam, Tyler, Courtney and Kayla Wilkes; and one great-grandson, Sullivan Schumacher.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 2810 St. Albans Dr., West Lawn, PA, on July 11, 2026 at 11 AM. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
