Gary Wayne Brown, Jr., 55, of Bern Township, passed away, Monday, May 23rd, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, in Reading Hospital - Tower Health.
He is survived by his beloved wife Padget Eileen (Vedder) Brown whom he married July 10, 1993.
Born in Pottstown, he is the son of Gary W. Brown, Sr., and Karen Lamonde (Baker) Sines.
Gary was a 1984 graduate of Exeter High School and also earned his B.S. in marketing at York College of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1989.
He was last employed as the branch manager at Gateway Mortgage Group.
He loved being with friends and family, from attending sporting events to holiday gatherings or just sitting around the fire on the weekends. He liked taking on the role of “social director” by planning activities and facilitating games for any sized crowd.
Over the past few years, he fell in love with taking long walks at the Heritage Center along Tulpehocken Creek and encouraged others to join him.
Gary loved sports, especially watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. He was a season ticket holder with the Eagles for years, and celebrated the highlight of the Eagles winning the Superbowl in 2018. He loved his family with all his being and took special pride in being a “Girl Dad.” He would take advantage of any opportunity to brag about his family to anyone who would listen.
In addition to his wife and parents, Gary is survived by three daughters: Kylie Rae Brown, Brooklyn, NY; Cassidy Layne Brown, Bern Twp.; and Tatum Eileen Brown, also of Bern Twp. One sister, Tracey (Brown), wife of Michael Snyder, and their daughter, Shannon, Warrington, PA, and a brother, Aaron Matthew, husband of Shannon (Lance) Brown, Pottstown, his step-mother, Priscilla Aurelia (Kazmierski) Brown, also survive him.
Gary was predeceased by one brother, Jared Justin Brown, who died in 2007.
A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, June 1st, 2022, at 11 A.M., at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 2901 Curtis Road, Reading, PA 19609. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M., and the night before, Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Church at the above address. Stitzel Family Funeral Home, Reading, has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gary's honor to Esophageal Cancer Action Network, P.O. Box 243, Stevenson, Maryland, 21153.
