George William DeLong, 91, of Alsace Township, passed away peacefully May 30, 2025, at Laureldale Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was the widower of Pauline Anna (Delp) Delong who passed away in 2023.
Born March 13, 1934, he was the son of the late Leonard DeLong Sr. and Myrtle (Fox) DeLong.
He attended Reading High School up until 10th grade until he went to join the Army. He was a loving husband and father. George would write love letters to his wife while he was in the service. After returning home he worked as a truck driver for Windsor Service for 42 years and retired in 2000. After retiring he still picked up jobs as a truck driver delivering everything from mulch to oil. In George’s free time he loved to go fishing and hunting. He was a handyman at heart and would work on almost anything with a motor.
George is survived by two children, Robert DeLong of Wernersville, and Brenda (DeLong), wife of Karl Leiby of Hamburg.
There are three grandchildren surviving: Samantha (Germann) Shoemaker, fiance of Taj Goodman; Carl Oswald, husband of Jen; and Erika Germann.
Seven great grandchildren are surviving: Trisha Toth; Jonathan Shoemaker; Alex Shoemaker; Autumn DiScala; Ryan DeLong; Kari Lesher; and Micah Thomas.
Also surviving is one great great grandson, Lucas Shoemaker.
George was predeceased in death by a daughter, Donna Oswald, and a grandson, William “Billy” DeLong,
He was also predeceased by two siblings, Leonard Delong Jr., and Dorothy (DeLong) St. Clair.
Burial will be held at a later date.
