Gerald “Jerry” Kline, 73, died the morning of April 22 at Laureldale Nursing and Rehabilitation, Muhlenberg Township.
Jerry was the son of Paul Kline and Minnie Holzinger and was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Kline Jr.
Jerry is survived by two sisters, Susan Hoffman of Orange City, FL, and Christine Grosso of Muhlenberg Township, and by a brother Robert Holzinger of Hegins, PA. Also surviving is a niece, Lisa Stetler of Lewes, DE and four nephews: William Hoffman of Seattle; Marty Grosso; Michael Grosso; and Matthew Grosso of Muhlenberg Township. He was predeceased by nephew Mark Grosso. Jerry also leaves behind 2 great nieces, Mia Grosso and Olyvia Grosso and great nephew Brayden Grosso. .
After graduating from Central Catholic High School, Jerry went to work at Berkshire News, then Whitners Department Store, and finally Reading Hospital where he worked on the kitchen staff for 14 years before he retired.
Jerry was a diehard sports fan. He followed Notre Dame Football, the Eagles, and most especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Music was his other passion, particularly that of Frank Sinatra and Broadway musicals, many of which he saw on Broadway. He collected German nut crackers and went all out decorating during the holidays; at Christmas he erected three trees that were easily first-class endeavors.
Following Jerry’s wishes, there will be no viewing or service.
