Giuseppe Scarpaci, 87, of Muhlenberg Township, died August 27, 2023, at Penn State Health – St. Joseph, Bern Township.
He was the loving husband of Pasqualina (Bisbano) Scarpaci for almost 60 years.
Born February 3, 1936 in Sicily, Italy, he was a son of the late Giovanni and Bartola (Mazzeo) Scarpaci.
Giuseppe was employed as a welder with Dana Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1998. Before coming to the United States, he worked as a mason and bricklayer in Italy.
He was a member of St. Margaret’s R.C. Church, Reading.
Giuseppe was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Pasqualina, are his three sons: John M., husband of Gail V. Scarpaci of Muhlenberg Township; David A., husband of Robin A. Scarpaci of Bern Township; and Joseph M. Scarpaci, partner of Kathleen L. Frick of Exeter Township.
Other survivors include his four grandchildren: Christine Scarpaci, Cameron Scarpaci, Aiden Scarpaci, and Robynn Bulles; as well as a great grandson, Kayden.
One of twelve children, Giuseppe was preceded in death by all his siblings: Domenico Scarpaci, Giovanni Scarpaci, Rosaria Aversa, Angelo Scarpaci, Giuseppina Scarpaci, Antonio Scarpaci, Carmella Trovato, Nino Scarpaci, Salvatore Scarpaci, Fortunata Scarpaci, and Nina Scarpaci.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Margaret’s R.C. Church, 925 Centre Avenue, Reading, PA 19601. A viewing will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. in the church. Entombment will follow mass at Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
