Harold Melvin Readinger, 92, of Maidencreek Township, died February 22, 2025, at Complete Care at Berkshire, Exeter Township.
He was the loving husband of Patricia Ann (Yerger) Readinger, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
Born January 5, 1933, in Ruscombmanor Township, he was a son of the late Paul R. and Elsie O. (Noll) Readinger.
Harold served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was employed as a foreman with Garden State Tanning, Reading, for 40 years, retiring in 1995.
Harold was an active member of Zion Spies Reformed Evangelical Church, Alsace Township, where he sang in the choir.
As a musician, Harold played the guitar and was a past member of Keys of Life Musical Organization at Fairgrounds Square Mall. He and his three brothers put together the band Melody Notes, which was well known for country and hoedown music. They played together for 50 years, and the highlight of their career was playing for the inauguration of Jimmy Carter.
Harold was a member of the Lions Club of Blandon.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his three children: Doris A. (Readinger), wife of Jeffrey S. Parr; Ronald D. Readinger, husband of Shanen (Yob); and Donald P. Readinger, husband of Debra (Meals), all of Ruscombmanor Township.
In addition, surviving are his seven grandchildren: Andrew, Nathan, and Tyler Parr; Adam and Rachel Readinger; and Logan and Erin Readinger; and his great granddaughter, Sophie Parr.
Harold was preceded in death by his three brothers, Merrill, Norman, and Roger.
Services will be held Saturday, March 1st, at 11 a.m. at Zion Spies Evangelical Reformed Church, 318 Spies Church Road, Reading (Alsace Township), PA 19606. A viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery, Spies-Zion Cemetery.
