Helenirene Kuehne

Helenirene Anne (Dusco) Kuehne, 79, passed away peacefully in her Laureldale residence, surrounded by her loving family.
 
 
 
She was the wife of Paul H. Kuehne, with whom she shared 40 years of marriage.
 
 
 
Born, November 7, 1941, in Douglassville, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Helen C. (Rogosky) Dusco.
 
 
 
Helenirene was a 1959 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1964 graduate of Kutztown University, where she earned her bachelor's degree, and later, a master's degree of fine arts.  While there, she was a charter member of the American Association of University Women - Kutztown Study Group.
 
 
 
Helenirene dedicated her professional life to teaching art.  She was employed first as an elementary art teacher, and later as a high school fine arts teacher, at Kutztown Area School District.  For 40 years, she had the honor of working alongside and teaching two generations of local artists.  She was Keith Haring's elementary school art teacher.  She retired in 2004.  Her career earned her recognition in "Who's Who of American Women."
 
 
 
In her retirement, Helenirene was an active member in, and held several positions with, the Berks County, Pennsylvania, and East Penn Associations of School Retirees.  She was also a long time member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society.
 
 
 
Helenirene was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.
 
 
 
Surviving, in addition to her husband, is her son, John P., husband of Heather A. (Hatala) Kuehne of Philadelphia.  
 
 
 
Helenirene will be remembered for her enthusiasm for life, her continued desire to learn, and her encouragement of others.  
 
 
 
A Celebration of Life service will be held after COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted and an in-person gathering can be held.   Additional details shall be forthcoming.
