Howard George Burkhart Jr., 75, of Reading, passed away December 5, 2024, at the Reading Hospital. Howard was born September 7, 1949 in West Reading. He was the son of the late Howard Burkhart Sr. and Fern (Hannahoe) Burkhart. He was a graduate of Reading High School and Virginia Computer College. He was veteran of the Vietnam War serving one tour from 1969 to 1970 and was Honorably Discharged from the Army in 1975.
Howard worked in the IT department at Ludens Candies followed by Hershey Foods, at the Reading plant retiring in 2010
His main joys in life were playing computer games, listening to Classic Rock and taking care of his cats.
Howard is survived by two siblings: Patricia (Burkhart) Maurer, wife of Ralph; and Muriel (Burkhart), widower of Victor Resczenski.
He is also survived by five nieces and nephews: Scott Maurer, husband of Nancy (Hess); Tracey (Maurer) Levering; Christina, wife of Noah Seyfert; DeVaughn Resczenski, husband of Elizabeth (Smith); and Karen (Resczenski), wife of Clarence Long Jr.
Howard is predeceased by two siblings: Constance Louise Burkhart; and Dorothy (Burkhart) Smith.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 20, at 1 PM, at Schwarzwald Cemetery, Jacksonwald, PA.
