Howard Franklin Strause, 72, died June 21, 2023 in his Caernarvon Township residence.
He was married November 11, 1972 to Catherine Jane (Jones) Strause.
Born April 11, 1951 in West Reading, PA., he was a son of the late Richard Elias Strause and Sarah Emma (Miller) Strause.
Howard attended Twin Valley High School.
He was a member of Moving Communities to Christ, Elverson.
Howard was employed as a manager with Boscov’s North, East, West, and Park City Lancaster for a total of 21 years in the garden centers.
He was later employed as the manager of housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance for 12 years with Tel Hai Retirement Community, Honey Brook.
Howard was last employed with Walmart, Morgantown for 11 years as the manager of the garden department and “in-house-stock” until his retirement.
He was a volunteer fire policeman with the Morgantown Fire Company for a number of years.
Howard enjoyed woodworking, model trains, and tinkering in the garage.
He is also survived by two children: Joseph R., husband of Sandra G. (Phillipy) Strause, of Spring Township, and Rebecca J. Strause, wife of Terry L. Blimline, of West Reading.
Other survivors include eight grandchildren: Natalie Sorber, fiancé of Bobby Scott, of North Wales, PA.; Tyler J. Strause, of Philadelphia; Andrew K. Strause, of Sinking Spring; Ismenia N. (Moreno), wife of Julian Carreras, of Sinking Spring; Delilah M. (Risavy), wife of Reinaldo Cancel, of East Haven, CT; Joshua B., Tamsin B., and Victoria B., all of West Reading.
Howard was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first great grandchild, who is due in August.
He was predeceased by two brothers: John Joseph Strause (1953-1953), and David Issac Strause (1955-1958).
Memorial Services will be held Monday, June 26th at 11:00 am in Moving Communities to Christ Church, 4221 Main Street, Elverson, PA 19520, with Pastor Bill Wright officiating. A visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 am – 11:00 am in the Church.
Burial will be in St. John’s Church Cemetery, 5 East Mill Street, Mt. Aetna, PA on Tuesday, June 27th at 11:00 am.
