Hoyt Franklin Weiss, Jr

Hoyt Franklin Weiss, Jr, 97 of Reading, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2024 in his home surrounded by his 3 daughters. 

He was the husband of the late Marilyn Ann (Esser) Weiss, who passed away in 2013. 

Born September 20, 1926 in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Hoyt Franklin Weiss, Sr. & Mamie Louise (Roth) Weiss.

Hoyt attended Reading High School and received his GED from the Navy from Reading High School. 

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy serving in WWII.

Hoyt enjoyed dancing, gardening, the casino’s and jitterbugging. 

He is survived by his children; Jackie (Weiss), wife of Robert M. Fogelman of Reading;  Cheryl “Sherry” Ann (Weiss), wife of James M. Beissel of Lessport and Christine Louise (Weiss), wife of Steven Orth of Mohrsville. 

Also surviving are his grandchildren: Lisa, Jason, Amy, Matthew, Katie, Chris, Jordan, Brittany, Emily, Michael and 14 great grandchildren.

We could not have asked for a better father and grandfather.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Eleanor Daubert, Faye Dietrich, Marie Mirenna, John Weiss, Barbara Weiss and Robert Weiss.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 1st at 11am  at the Stitzel Funeral Home, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale PA 19605. A visitation will be held Friday from 10-11am at the funeral home.

The burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
