Hugh Frederick Tait

Hugh Frederick Tait, 73, formerly of Sinking Spring, died December 16, 2023 at Tower Health – Reading Hospital.

He was the loving husband of Joan Ann (Yeager) Tait.

Born February 23, 1950, in Quakertown, PA; he was a son of the late Stewart R. and Agnes I. (Allen) Tait.

Hugh was a 1968 graduate of Exeter High School and a 1974 graduate of Kutztown College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.

He once owned a Hallmark store and was employed as an insurance salesman for most of his career. 

Hugh served and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves.

He was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his two stepsons: Randy A. Kauffman (wife April) and Michael D. Kauffman fiancé Lisa).

Other survivors include his six step grandchildren: Zachary Kauffman (wife Danae), Joshua Kauffman, Katherine Kauffman, Christopher Kauffman, Derek Kauffman, and Lea Kauffman and a step-great grandson, Zeke.

Also surviving is his brother, Stewart R. Tait, Jr.

Hugh was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ann McGlinn.

Services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale.  A viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m.  Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.  The service will be live-streamed and can be viewed by clicking the link at the bottom of Hugh's obituary page at www.StitzelFamilyFuneralHomes.com.
