James Joseph Gerner, 63, of Laureldale, PA, passed away Tuesday, March 17th, 2026 at Tower Health Reading Hospital.
He was the loving husband of Lisa (Keim) Gerner who he married October 20th, 2017.
Born November 3rd, 1962, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph F. Gerner and Sheila E. (Domeracki) Gerner.
Jim was a 1981 graduate of Owen J Roberts High School. For the majority of his working career , he was a welder for The Rose Corporation in Reading.
Philadelphia sports, specifically the Eagles and Flyers, were a strong passion of his. Growing up he was very athletic. He’d played street hockey for the “Scrufty Dawgs” and played darts in a league with his father and brother. He won several trophies in the annual horse shoe tournament with family and friends. Jim enjoyed his yearly hunting trips in Potter County with his beloved brother in laws and nephews. Family is what brought him the most joy. He was so proud of all his children, He loved being a dad and being a pop pop. He loved going out to Friday lunches or meeting up with family and friends. As well as spending his better years with his beloved Lisa.
Surviving are three children: Derrick A. Evans, husband of Kaitlin A. Ammon of Pottstown; Chelsea N. (Gerner) Fizz, wife of Stephan of Oley; and Jacquelynn J. Gerner of Lauderdale.
Also surviving are three grandchildren: Stella Emerson Fizz; Oliver James Fizz; Winry Ammon-Evans.
Jim leaves behind two sisters, Peggy (Gerner) Tucker, wife of John of Royersford, and Diane (Gerner) Boyer, wife of John of Royersford.
He was predeceased by three siblings: Kathy (Gerner) Ristine, wife of Hooper; John Gerner; and Susan (Gerner) McGinn, wife of Rick.
A visitation will be held Saturday, March 28th, at 11 a.m. with services to follow at 12 p.m. at the Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Laureldale, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA.
