James William Lloyd

James William Lloyd, 88, passed away peacefully, on his birthday, October 19, 2025.  

He was the loving husband of Marie Elizabeth (Daly) Lloyd, with whom he shared almost 64 years of marriage.

Born October 19, 1937, he was a son of the late William Robert and Maryanna M. (Wawrzyniak) Lloyd.

James was a 1955 graduate of Reading High School and then went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army.

He was employed as a sheet metal worker with Luppold Heating & Air Conditioning for 35 years, retiring in 1996.

James was a member of Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, Hyde Park.

His pleasures in life were fishing, hunting, and especially golf—a sport he enjoyed year-round for many years. However, his greatest happiness came from time spent with family. Whether it was day trips with his wife “Fitty”, family parties and events, or the annual family vacation on Long Beach Island—a tradition for over 30 years—these moments meant the most to him.

James was the father of three daughters: Susan L., wife of Fred D. Hafer, Jr. of Wyomissing; Marie E., wife of Matthew A. Faust of Exeter Township; and Karen A., wife of Larry A. Adams of Exeter Township.

He was a brother to Diane M. Lloyd of St. Lawrence.

There are also seven grandchildren: Madalyn M. McGinley (Ryan C.), Megan E. Faust, Lauren E. Scott (Connor B.), Kristen A. Hafer, Peter F. Hafer, Grant L. Hettinger, and Gwen R. Hettinger. He was the proud great-grandfather of Blaire and Bryce, with two more great-grandchildren on the way—news that brought him great joy.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, October 25th at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605.  A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the church.  Burial will follow mass at Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
