James “Jim” Hershey Lochman, 84, passed away September 20, 2022 in his Spring Township residence.
He was born September 7, 1938, in Reading, PA, and was the son of the late Raymond Lochman and Vivian E. (Hershey) Lochman.
Jim was married December 8, 1974 to Carol J. (Behm) Lochman, celebrating 48 years of marriage.
He is also survived by three children: Mark D. Lochman, fiancé of Pat Miller, of Bethel; Todd M. Lochman, husband of Pamela A. (Norris) Lochman, of Shillington; and Jaime E. (Lochman), wife of Shawn M. Rowe, of Lebanon.
Other survivors include six grandchildren: Connor, Bryce, Eric (Katie), Sarah (Sean), Stephen, and James; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Raymond H. Lochman; William H. Lochman; and June E. (Lochman) Francis.
A 1956 graduate of Reading High School, Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1960. He then began a 60+-year career in the automotive industry, becoming known affectionately as Jim “The Tireman” throughout the Reading community. Jim enjoyed 40 years at Pollard Tire, where he rose through the ranks from manager to the president before retiring in 2006. Holding a tremendous work ethic, Jim later joined Moyer’s Nissan in their sales and purchasing department, retiring in August.
Jim loved big game hunting in Canada and Africa and small game hunting locally and in Maryland. He also enjoyed golfing, and especially appreciated being invited to golf at the Firestone Country Club.
A Memorial Service for Jim will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 11:00 AM in West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Avenue, West Lawn, PA 19609, with Rev. Tom Ebersole and Rev. Terry Cooney officiating. A visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM in the Church. Burial will be private in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading.
