Janis L. (Smith) Weller, 73 of Spring Township, sadly passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 in the Highlands at Wyomissing, where she had been a resident since August.
Born in West Reading, PA on April 3, 1950. She was the daughter of the late E. George and Klara M. (Eisele) Smith. She was the loving wife of Barry L. Weller; they were married August 28, 1971 at St Johns, Reading. They recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.
Janis was a 1968 graduate of Exeter High School and a 1970 graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York City. Where she majored in fashion. Following graduation, Janis became a buyer for her parents womens' clothing store, Feel Fine. She then was later employed as a corporate secretary in various family businesses, until her retirement in 2020. She also served as an officer of The E.G. & Klara M. Smith Foundation, whose mission is to help churches and organizations in the city of Reading.
She was a member of GT Church, West Lawn. Her faith in Christ was strong.
Janis loved spending time at the family beach house in Sea Isle City, NJ. She enjoyed craft shows, walking with friends, collecting seashells and making memories with her grandchildren. At home she busied herself doing puzzles, playing games on her iPad, watching old movies or the game show network. Janis was, let's just say, the ultimate Fanilow, she would go to any and all Barry Manilow concerts. She even got called on stage to sing "Can't Smile Without You" with him. But what she cherished most was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two children: Julie A. (Weller), wife of BJ Fry, Spring township; and Brian L., husband of Kristy Jo (Hoover), Exeter Township. Janis was the proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Kylie A. Fry, fiancee of Andrew Torney; Ethan J. Fry; Matthew G. Fry; Katie L. Fry; Brady L. Weller; Brandon L. Weller; and Aubree R. Hoover. She is also survived by her brother, Edwin G. husband of Helene (Askin) Smith of Sinking Spring.
