Jean Macmullan Obituary

Jean N (Levan) Macmullan, 86, of Reading, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025. at Country Meadows Retirement Communities. 

She was the widow of the late Earl Macmullan. 

Born in Ruscombmanor, she was the daughter of the late Walter Levan and Sarah (Noll) Levan. 

Jean was a 1955 graduate of Oley High School and later went on to work a variety of jobs. She started out as a candy maker and then moved into the accounting field. She worked as an accountant at different law firms and tax companies. Jean then went on to work as an accountant and office manager for Penske racing for 20 years, working with the Indy car team. 

Any free time that Jean had she loved to spend it at her fishing cabin on the Chesapeake. What brought her true joy was spending time with her family and friends. 

Surviving are two children, Judy Newpher-Rider, wife of Craig of Fleetwood, and Denis Newpher, husband of Elizbeth (Berger) of Reading. As well as three step children: Donna Stitt; Debbie Stewart, wife of Bob; and David Macmullan. 

Also surviving are six grandchildren: Tara Newpher; Lee Newpher; Jennifer Loxley, wife of Burke; Brian Pum, husband of Danielle; Christopher Stewart; and Jamie Fesko, wife of Todd. 

Jean leaves behind six great grandchildren and one sibling, Carl Levan, husband of Janet. 

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County.
