Jeffrey Lee Strader, 60, passed away at his home in Temple, PA on May 11, 2024 after courageously fighting a fierce battle with cancer for over a year. He was a devoted and loving husband to Cynthia Facelli Strader for 31 years and a dedicated and loving father to Stephen Jeffrey Strader of Cleveland, OH and Lauren Elizabeth Strader of Wheeling, WV.
Born in Greensboro, North Carolina on October 26, 1963, he was the son of Burley W. Strader, (Cathie) and the late Marjorie Thelma (Buckner) Strader.
He graduated from Western Guilford High School in NC in 1982 and attended Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, NC where he graduated summa cum laude in Accounting in 1986. He was a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received his master’s degree in 1987.
Jeff worked extremely hard throughout his career beginning in public accounting in Greensboro, NC and transferring to Salisbury, NC where he met and married Cynthia. Together they journeyed through life creating great memories and loving homes. Their adventures took them to Kernersville, NC where Jeff worked as Chief Financial Officer for Industrial Truck Sales and Service in Greensboro before switching to the Maritime Industry as Chief Financial Officer for The North Carolina State Ports Authority in Wilmington, NC. He also served as Deputy Executive Director, Administration before moving to Lake Jackson, TX where he worked for Port Freeport as Director of Administration and CFO.
Transitioning into higher education, he was named Vice President of Finance and Administration for Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, WV, and was last employed as the Vice President for Finance and Strategic Partnerships at Albright College in Reading, PA where he was known as the best boss ever!
Jeff was an active parishioner at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church in Reading, PA and the Basilica of Saint Mary in Wilmington, NC. Jeff served on the Finance Council and was a member of the local Knights of Columbus council at both parishes. He also served as Treasurer for Boy Scouts of America Troop 255 in Wilmington, NC.
He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and enjoyed hiking, hunting, traveling, tinkering with his car, and working on projects around the house.
Most important to Jeff was spending time with family.
In addition to his mother, Jeff was preceded in death by his nephew, Hunter Ryan Bethea. Other survivors include his younger sister, Laura Strader Bethea; three nephews, and four nieces.
