JoAnn Kathryn (Knowles) Loose

JoAnn Kathryn Loose, 85, of Greenwich Township, died January 17, 2023 in Lutheran Home at Topton.

She was the wife of Robert Daniel Loose, whom she married July 16, 1960.

Born April 27, 1937 in Pottsville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Kenneth W., and Kathryn V. (Shellhammer) Knowles.

JoAnn was a 1955 graduate of Pottsville High School and a 1959 graduate of Kutztown State Teachers College.

She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Kutztown.

JoAnn was employed as an elementary school teacher with the Kutztown School District and later Fleetwood School District.

She was a member of the Woman’s Club of Kutztown.

JoAnn enjoyed basketmaking, bird watching, and traveling.

She is survived by two sons: Kenneth R., husband of Tresa K. (King) Loose of Celina, Texas; and Jonathan R. Loose of Greenwich Township.

Other survivors include five grandchildren: Alexander K. Loose, Alyssa A. Loose, Chad, husband of Sharyn Hoya, Ryon, wife of Bryce Fowler, and Kenly, wife of William Wimberley; and 8 great-grandchildren: Geno Schwalen, Madelyn Hoya, Madyson Hoya, Colt Hoya, Jaxon Fowler, Bryn Fowler, Warren Wimberley, and Levi Wimberley.

Services will be held Monday, January 23rd at 11:00 am in Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale with a viewing beginning at 10:00 am.

Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery.
