Joan Catherine Miller

Joan Catherine (Mengel) Miller, 86, of Exeter, passed away April 24, 2025, at Keystone Villa at Fleetwood. 

She was the widow of Clair O. Miller whom she married in 1960. 

Born October 21, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Mengel and Mabel (Seyfert) Mengel. 

Joan was a 1956 graduate of Hamburg Area High School. During her working years she was employed by BCIU as a teachers aid for 15 years. She was also a Sunday School Teacher at Zion Spies Lutheran church for over 20 years. 

Joan enjoyed bowling, playing cards with the neighbor ladies, country line dancing with her husband Clair, and traveling around the country and world with her late husband. She loved her weekend trips to the family’s Sullivan County “BEMPS” lodge and chatting with her neighbor and best friend Audrey Boone. One of her favorite things was having family picnics & parties with her nine siblings and extended family. Joan had a heart of gold & loved everyone and everything! 

Surviving are two sons, Keith Miller of Trappe, PA, and Scott Miller, husband of Lisa of Charlotte, NC. 

Joan is survived by three siblings: Terry Mengel; Barbara Savage; and Linda Weitzel. 

She was predeceased in death by six siblings: Donald Mengel; Harold Mengel; Shirley Herring; Jean Miller; Richard Mengel; and James Mengel

A service will be held Monday, May 5, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Stitzel Family Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Oley, 423 Main Street, Oley, PA 19547. A visitation will be held prior from 10 a.m - 11 a.m. at the same location. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
