John Richard Freese, 89, died October 18, 2023 in his Exeter Township residence.
He was the widower of Christina Esther (Bauder) Freese, who died December 14, 2020.
Born in Reading, PA on June 24, 1934, he was a son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Wolfe) Freese.
He was employed as a molder for 15 years with Birdsboro Casting Corporation, and later as a machinist for 5 years with Special T Design, Oley Township.
John last worked 15 years in the maintenance department with Reading Rehabilitation Center, Cumru Township,retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Reading Hampden Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church. where he was a former head deacon.
John loved working with his hands; especially woodworking.
He is survived by his four children: Paul R., husband of Kathy (Johnson) Freese of Reinholds; Linda D. (Freese), wife of Craig Johnson, of Exeter Township; David J., Sr., husband of Mindy (Weidner) Freese, of Exeter Township; Lisa C., (Freese), wife of Bruce Hill, of Exeter Township.
John was the proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren: Julie Hansen, Andrew Freese, Satara Nadarajan, Jessica Shoemaker, Meggan Knight, Jade McLoughlin, Hannah Johnson, Jordan Hill, Madison Freese, David Freese, Jr., and Jacob Hill; and three step-grandchildren: Kristin Colf, Amy Camacho, and MacKenzie Hill.
There are also 10 great grandchildren: Ayana McLoughlin, Avery McLoughlin, Logan Hansen, Griffin Hansen, Ainsley Nadarajan, Elizabeth Knight, Madelyn Shoemaker, Naomi Camacho, Mya Camacho, and Layla Camacho.
He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy (Freese) Bean, widow Carl of Douglassville.
A viewing will be held Sunday, October 22nd from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 423 Main Street, Oley.
A second viewing will be held Monday, October 23rd from 9:00 am - 10:00 am in Reading Hampden Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2706 Old Pricetown Road, Temple, PA 19560, with services following the viewing.
Burial will be in Spies Zion Cemetery, 318 Spies Church Road, Reading, PA 19606.
