John Dennis Garl

John Dennis Garl, 81, passed away Tuesday, November 29th, 2022, at Reading Hospital - Tower Health.

He was the husband of Shirley A. (Kwalewski) Garl.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Raymond and Melva (Parkyn) Garl.

John was a graduate of Reading High School.

He served in the Marines Reserves from 1959 through 1963.

John was employed as a driver for Purolator Armor Car and later for Yeager Supply, Inc., retiring in 2000. 

In addition to his wife, John is survived by two sons, Christopher S. Garl, Laureldale, and Jan K. Garl, Sinking Spring. Two grandchildren, Ty J. Garl, and Emily Marie Garl, one granddaughter, Evelyn Garl, and three siblings: Curtis Garl; Barry Garl; and Diane "Cookie" Dietrich also survive him.

John was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara A. (Oponski) Garl in 2000.

A viewing will be held Saturday, December 3rd, 2022, from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M., at Stitzel Family Funeral Home, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
