John Anthony Staszewski, 91, of Muhlenberg Township, died September 12, 2023 at Tower Health – Reading Hospital.
He was the widower of Marguerite A. (Garitee) Staszewski, who died in 2014. They shared 47 years of marriage.
Born November 30, 1931, in Camden, NJ, he was a son of the late Anthony and Catherine L. (Zajac) Staszewski.
John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
One of John’s first jobs was with Campbell Soup Company. Subsequently, he worked in electronics with RCA, and Unisys, which is where he retired from in a management position.
John was a member of Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, Hyde Park.
A handyman, John loved refurbishing antique furniture, along with his wife, for resale or donation to someone in need. After retirement, he worked part-time as a handyman doing building maintenance work for many years.
John loved putting a smile on people’s faces; he enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh. He was also very generous, helping those in need any time he could.
He loved spending time in Wildwood, NJ with his family, every summer. He was also a Philadelphia Eagles fan.
John was the BEST father of his daughter, Michele A., wife of John S. Woellner of Maidencreek Township.
In addition, John is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
The baby of six, he was preceded in death by his five siblings: Eleanor (Staszewski) Jasinska, Anna S. (Staszewski) Pirrotta, Edward Staszewski, Anthony Staszewski, and Veronica Staszewski, whom John had often mentioned had died shortly before he was born.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 19th at 11 a.m. at Holy Guardian Angels Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading.
Viewings will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale and Tuesday morning from 10-11 a.m. in the church.
Burial will follow the mass, at Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
