José Emilio Mercado

José Emilio Mercado, 63, of Hatboro, Bucks County, died February 2, 2025 as a result of an automobile accident in Puerto Rico.

He was the husband of Elizabeth R. (Cintron) Mercado, whom he married May 23, 1992.

Born in Manhattan, New York on June 12, 1961, he was a son of the late Raul Mercado Sr., and Marta Hilda Figueroa Mercado.

José was a graduate of Reading High School.

He was a proud Veteran of the United State Marine Corps.

José was last employed as a co-owner in the plastics industry.

He had a variety of interests. Some of those interests include Speed Skating, Fishing, Karate, New York Giants, Baseball, Cart Racing, Camping, family time, project building, NASCAR, and riding his Harley.

José also loved his 2016 Corvette Stingray, helping anyone in need, taking care of his family, and spending time on the beach, especially Ocean City Maryland, and Boqueron Beach, Puerto Rico.

He is also survived by three children: Justin M. Mercado; Angelica N. (Mercado) Rosado; and Christopher E. Mercado.

José was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren: Kayla J. Mercado, Arianna E. Velez, and Giuliana L. Gomez.

Other survivors include three siblings: Raul Mercado, Jr. Michael Mercado, and George Mercado. He was predeceased by a sister, Marta D. Willams.

His chocolate labrador, “Rocky the Bear” joined him in Heaven on February 23rd.

A prayer service will be held Wednesday, February 26th at 11:00 am in Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale.  A visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 am in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Muhlenberg Township.
