Larry Earl Conrad, 81, of Pike Township, passed away September 24, 2024, in Penn State Health / St. Joseph's, Bern Township.
He was the loving husband and high school sweetheart of Anna Louise (Bortz) Conrad, whom he married June 13, 1964.
Born May 26, 1943, in Pike Township, he was the son of the late Earl and Alice (Keiffer) Conrad.
He attended the one-room schoolhouse in Lobachsville and later attended Oley Valley High School.
Larry retired from West Motor Freight where he worked as a parts manager for 47 years.
He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.
Larry could be found volunteering at numerous events at the Oley Fairgrounds, including the Oley Fair, Peach Festival, Apple Festival, AMC (Antique Motorcycle Club) Weekend.
He was a life member and former officer with the Pike Township Sportsmen's Association and was a life member of the Bally Fire Company, Oley Fire Company, Keystone (Boyertown) Fire Company, and the National Rifle Association. He was also a member of the Topton American Legion Ray Master Post #217, Gabelsville Athletic Association, Bechtelsville Fire Company, and the VFW and Moose Lodge #223 both in Huntingdon, PA.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, pulling wire, square dancing, riding his motorcycle (The Triumph Tiger), and loved to drink his Old Milwaukees.
He is also survived by his two daughters: Linette Gehris, fiancée of Bill Clowers of Boyertown, and Bethann (Conrad), wife of Bruce Ritter of Barto, PA.
Larry loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the proud grandfather to three grandchildren: Kevin Gehris Jr., fiancé of Beth Anderson, Dillin, husband of Amanda Gehris, and Kelli Ritter, fiancée of Kyle Moyer, and seven great grandchildren: Frayah, Grayson, Landon, Ryker, Kayden, Nolan, and Easton.
He is also survived by a sister, Shirley (Conrad), widow of Harold Hausman, of Oley Township, and was predeceased by a sister, Betty (Conrad) Sheetz and her husband Albert Sheetz.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Stitzel Funeral Home & Crematory, 423 Main Street, Oley, PA 19547.
Viewings will be held Friday, October 4th, from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, October 5th, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pike Township sportsmen's Association, please memo Larry Conrad, 860 Hill Church Road, Oley, PA 19547. The money raised will be used for special events like the Handicap Fish Rodeo, Kids Fish Rodeo, Easter Egg Hunt, Kids Christmas Party and many others.
Burial with Military Honors will be in Lobach’s (St. Paul’s) Cemetery, Pike Township.
